By Tennessee Williams
The classic play of family secrets and the Deep South.
The family of “Big Daddy” Pollitt convenes at his and Big Momma’s mansion in the Mississippi Delta to celebrate his birthday and apparent recovery from serious illness. Among the attendees is their son, Brick, a crippled ex-football player, who spends his time drinking, mourning his dead best friend Skipper, and avoiding the ministries of his libidinous wife, Maggie. Then there’s their other son, the ambitious Gooper and wife Mae, who know that Big Daddy is dying and are keen to stake their claim on the estate.
This gathering isn’t so much as a celebration but a farewell. Many memories and revelations which had been hidden come to the surface for everyone, especially Big Daddy and Brick.
