A Message from our Chairman

We are of course still here at the theatre, maintaining, cleaning, restructuring, shifting, binning, painting, securing, testing, mopping, wiping, hoovering, sanitizing, installing, building, spraying, grouting, ensuring that our theatre is safe and fit for purpose, and as soon as we are given the “go ahead” from the Government, we`ll get back to doing what we do best – entertaining our audiences.

As I write plans are being made to restructure the toilet facilities, making them bigger and better for the future. Also giving our façade a facelift, making it all presentable for our audiences for many years to come. The bar area might get a layer of paint into the bargain for good measure. Hopefully all these changes will be started very soon and be intime for the restart of the season, whenever that might be.

The theatre is “open” on Monday – Wednesday – and Friday mornings from 9:00am – 12:00 noon most weeks for general maintenance and set building, under the stewardship of Jeff and Jolyon, if you have some spare time, please do come down and help out, they both would really appreciate it. All precautions with regards to your personal safety, hand sanitizing stations, social distancing guild lines are now in place. Please do come down and see what’s been happening.

The play selection team are working on a new idea of “podcasts” or “virtual theatre” which I think is very exciting, especially for our members to reconnect with the theatre. Lending their talents to a new area of our community, the visually impaired. With a very slight adjustment to our website, members could listen in to productions, readings, sketches in their own homes.

So, in the meantime, please stay safe and well, remember our theatre wants you back as soon as you can, and please be assured that you will be safe and in good hands.
